I've been trying to track down information on a veteran buried in the county I live in. His headstone says his name was A. M. Herwood, date of birth and date of death, unknown. It also indicates he was in the Michigan Infantry. The only A. Herwood I can find in the soldier's and sailor's database was Archibald Herwood, a private in Turner's Company, US Volunteer Pioneers. However, this is a unit for which I can find virtually no information. Anyone have anything to indicate whether A. M. Herwood is or is not Archibald Herwood?
