  • WTK: Who are the preferred fabric vendors now days?

Yes I used the search function...

With Charlie Child's essentially out of play, who aside Ben and Beth Tart is worth acquiring from? I see Wambaugh and White offer material, and while I know Family Heirloom Weavers makes stuff, I never see kersey and jean available on their site, just curtains and such... Is there anyone else out there?

    Thanks in advance!

There's William Booth, Draper, which offers (I think?) Woolrich branded jeans in a few colors (not many). http://wmboothdraper.com/

There's also Needle & Thread, 2215 Fairfield Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325, Phone: 1-717-334-4011.

Mickey Black still sells yardage of his Mouse Gray jean, too. http://www.salisburyemporium.com/mickeyblacksocks.htm

      Is Charlie out of business?

I guess I would ask what are specifically looking for?

Charlie still has some stuff on occasion.
WBD is a great source along with 96th district for some specialty fabric and a lot of prints.

Needle and Thread is a fantastic source. They carry tons of Charlies and Bens fabric along with Hainsworth. I highly recommend them but be aware that they mark up their fabrics considerably though.

Being as close as you are I would suggest taking the drive to Gettysburg to visit their store and make a stop by Garyowens for a.few pints and grub.
I will likely make a trip in the next couple of months. I will let you know and we can make a day of it.

          Gentlemen,

          Thank you for the queuing.

Tyler, would be my pleasure to join if you pass through. As for Charlie, I corresponded with him in the fall and his assessment of his stocks (especially CS and most US) was that they are gone with no forecast of replenishment. He lamented that business has declined to the point he procures Tart material on occasion to make things since buying and stocking material is just not cost effective now. But the opportunity to see if Needle and thread has any stashed away... I have some phone calls to make.

Realizing this thread is almost a year old, I'd add that I have picked up some excellent fabrics from Renaissance Fabrics https://www.renaissancefabrics.net I've gotten some nice broadcloths, linens & silks there. Very quick turnaround time. Also some decent deals on clearance/closeouts that I haven't found elsewhere.

Kochen & Phillips has some of the finest woolens out there; however, they are quite expensive. I recently purchased their sky blue kersey through Roy Najeki, and aside from Charlie's sky blue, it's the best I've seen.

                    Doug,

No I haven't, but Renaissance Fabrics does offer up to 4 fabric swatches for free, you just have to contact them & ask for them. https://www.renaissancefabrics.net/swatch-requests/

                    Hope that helps.
