  • NC Wooden Canteens

I recently came across an article prepared by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Historic Landmark Commission and it made reference that during the war there was a wooden canteen maker in Charlotte, North Carolina that operated under the name New Manufacturing Company.** Does anyone know what pattern these canteens were, Gardner perhaps or something different?** I've seen documented wooden canteens of both Gardner and Nuckolls patterns carried by NC State Troops during the war but nothing to prove their origin of manufacture or issue to troops.** Are there any known references that might identify the NC produced wooden canteens and if they were issued in any substantial numbers?
