  • CWDD: 1816 Conversions

In this episode, we explore the 1816 conversions in use during the Civil War with Mark and Jason Krausz from Agents Campbell & Pellican’s Military Goods. We learn the history of the 1816 and they answer questions around how and why they were converted while looking at many originals. A big thank you to the Aurora GAR Memorial Hall & Museum in Aurora, Illinois who graciously hosted us for this episode.

Good segment, I was not aware that the Colt conversions (the one that kind of resemble the reproduction Pedersoli US 1816 drum conversion) ended up with Garibaldi in Italy. Explains why Pedersoli copied that kind of oddball conversion for their US 1816. At least one example stayed in Italy.

My brother and another collector both got theirs at auction from Italy. Getting stuff into the U.S. and the taxes their are a bite!
