  • Need help identifying some buttons

    Hey guys,

A relic hunter gave me some buttons he had dug and appear to be Tennessee state buttons. I'm not an expert on buttons and would appreciate you guys checking them out and letting me know what you can tell about them. What do you guys think they are and from when? Thanks!

Definitely Tennessee state buttons but they don't look like a war time example to me.

As [one of our cavalry] passed by, the general halted him and inquired "what part of the army he belonged to." "I don't belong to the army, I belong to the cavalry." "That's a fact," says [the general], "you can pass on." Silas Grisamore, 18th Louisiana

Those are non muffin style, 3 piece post war TN state seal buttons. They are still being made by Waterbury.
