  • Welcome back, welcome anew

I've been wanting to upgrade to this new forum software for some time, the recent outage has moved our time table up.

Our service provider has gone offline, and taken many sites with him. I feel compelled to put the Authentic-Campaigner site on a more stable server. This will cost me more, but actually that was the whole purpose of the shirt sales (that and raising money for preservation). We're on our own now.

Hopefully our former service provider will re-emerge, at least long enough to get us copies of the old forum database... I'd really hate to lose 3 years of posts.

Please reregister here and we hope to get the rest of the website and and forum features back online shortly.

There are a lot of changes on this new forum software, we'll explain those soon.

    Regards,
    Paul Calloway

        Paul

Nice job. I hope you can retrieve all the stuff that was on the old forum.

Have to get those event listings up and running soon.

New forum looks great! It seems to have more options. I noticed there was no "Camp of Instruction" are these questions now to be posted in the Authenticity Discusion?

Oops, just an oversight. Trying to get a lot of things online all at once. ;) It's there now.

You might want to post the rules - I note that you are already getting some posts that are not signed with full name, etc.

Good luck on the new site. It's become a cultural icon for this end of the hobby.

                        Re: Welcome back, welcome anew

The new discussion board looks great and it seems pretty easy to use. However, I do have a question about posting. Will a spell check be added? Or did I miss this feature?

I know you guys are still trying to bring everything back up to speed, but will there be a section in the profile page to add your unit/mess name?

                        Thanks guys,

Well I hope so. The problem seems to be that the company that used to provide this service has ceased offering it. Commercial spell check programs run about $100... right now I'm looking for a so-called hack. Installing hacks isn't exactly my forte though so it may take a few days.

The old forum had it as an oversight by vBulletin. It should have been removed from the admin control panel and had not been.

Yes, in fact I've been meaning to do that and it's done now. Check your profile options in your User CP (cp = control panel) to edit it.

                            Paul,
Are we looking at a reasonable chance that we will be able to restore all of the archived files, or is this more of a 50/50% proposition. I would be truely saddened if we were to loose them completely, as would others, I'm sure. Sorry to hear that the former webhost wasn't all that we had hoped for.

Oh, I think we'll definately get the back. I'd say 90-95% chance. Glenn may be distracted but he's not a scum-bag. It's just a matter of when. We'll need to limp along for a few days or maybe a week until we can get in touch with Glenn.

As I mentioned, a certified letter will go out on Monday. We'll track him down. I'm not overly concerned about it yet.
