  • Schuyler, Hartley and Graham or Hartley and Graham Sales Catalogue

In the years following the Civil War, the firm of Schuyler, Hartley and Graham - later Hartley and Graham - of New York City was one of the largest dealers in military surplus small arms in the world. I am working on a research project for which I need access to one of the company's sales catalogues from the period 1870-1885. The company's 1864 catalogue, which has been reprinted, is too early for my needs. If any of the members have access to a copy I would be very appreciative if they could look at it and answer some questions for me.

    Regards,

Re: Schuyler, Hartley and Graham or Hartley and Graham Sales Catalogue

    Greetings-

If it helps, reprint editions of their post-war catalogs can be found at Cornell Publications www.cornellpubs.com If you don't mind used books, some catalogs can be found at American Booksellers Exchange
www.abebooks.com At ABE, there are two items of possible interest. One is, "A Brief Examination of the Schuyler, Hartley & Graham Military Sales Depots Warehouse Receipt and Delivery Registers", an article in the April, 1993 edition of the magazine, Gun Report. The other one is, "Arming the West: Schuyler, Hartley & Graham'a Arms Shipments to the American Frontier, 1868-1886", by Herbert Houze. Good luck in your project.
