  • Anyone know what this is????

My wife's GG Grandfather was at the battle of Shiloh, fighting for the South. He was wounded and taken to the bloody pond. While at the bloody pond, and officer took off a sash and gave it to him to wrap around his wound. The family has kept it all of these years but don't know what the insignia that is on it. Do any of you have any idea on what it may be? The wood logs and the center circle are made of metal and sewn onto the fabric. The red ends run the length of the sash. which is about 8 feet long. I have searched for all kinds of regalia for things on the web and have come up empty. I'm hoping that some of you may recognize what this is or point me in the direction of someone who may. All information is appreciated.

Not Tenth Corps because it's too early and the corps badge represents a fort with four bastions. I'd guess some fraternal or militia insignia. The only thing I've seen that comes close is the Lumbermen's Insurance Company mark. That's postwar, and obviously not right, but it suggests a motif that might have been around earlier in other applications: Click image for larger version

Very interesting. I'm guessing fraternal as well but that is just a guess.
