The 1850 Ord manual doesn't give the color coding, but the dimensions are IIRC the same as a .58 cal box.

      Re: Ammunition Crates

In reading some of the messages in this thread, I have seen ordnance manuals mentioned. I am looking for the 1840 manual. Anyone know where I might find one?

        John,

Do you have the measurements for that Richmond Arsenal ammunition crate? If not, do you know where I could get them?

          Hallo Kameraden,
has anyone an Idea about the "Blue" Color of the .69er Box, light blue, skyblue or darker ? Any analogy to an "modern" tone, like the "Federal Standard 595" Colors ?

Just in case anyone is looking for it and cant find it - here is a link to a couple of photos of a St Louis Arsenal .69 ammo crate. Not painted, stenciled in black. and no fancy joinery. A picture is worth a thousand words! Just scroll down a short ways in the link-
