  • Tyler Arsenal

I have used the search tool and found nothing on this but I thought that I might find someone who had information on this topic.

I know that Tyler produced weapons and that Marshall had a powder mill but I wanted more details if possible. Did Tyler produce ammunition? Was there any ammunition produced in Texas other than Austin?

    Any sources are greatly appreciated.

This may be of use. William Albaugh, Tyler, Texas. I have not read it, but it looks like a good place to start your research.

As far as all of Texas production you need to look into: https://www.amazon.com/Confederate-A...y&sr=8-1-fkmr0
Tyler did produce a lot of ammo, but unfortunately, I know of no existing rounds, or arsenal packs (or labels) that survived. I have the 3- volume set, it states for the month of Feb, 1864: Cartridge production soared in February to over 168,000 rounds:
        86,410 Buck-n-Ball cartridges
        69,030 Musket Ball ''
        11,750 Enfield Rifle ''
        1,290 Miss ''

If you ever get to the Texas Civil War Museum in FT. Worth, they sometimes have the 3-volume set of books bundled together, for around $40-$50!

Thanks Kevin, I thought I might hear from you...you were kind enough to share some arsenal labels with me last that I have put to good use. As far as the museum in Fort Worth, that is literally 10 minutes down the road from my house. I will swing by there after work and pick that up.

Too bad no labels survived, that would really sweeten a transmiss impression!

          Thanks for the tip!
