Some time during or shortly after the Battle of Nashville, George Barnard took his camera atop what was then Lindsley Hall, being used as a hospital at the University of Nashville (and now home to the Metropolitan Nashville Planning Commission).
From this vantage point, he took a series of 4 stereographs of the surrounding area. This is what he saw:
