  • Haversack

    Hey everyone,

I have this haversack I purchased at the Museum of the Confederacy. It is white linen with a white linen sling. On the black belt closure it says CS, Montgomery Inspected. Does anyone have any info on what type of haversack this is? Is it appropriate for an ANV impression?

    Much thanks.

    Re: Haversack

The Montgomery inspected stamp comes under suspicion. During the 60's one particular stamp of this type surfaced on counterfeit goods. An article in an old North South Trader exposed the counterfeit stamps as fantasy, unfortunately these same stamps are currently being used on reproduction goods.
