  • Help making a forage cap

What material was used for stiffening the circle on the top?
My pattern calls for cardboard... no.

Try 2 pieces of Pasteboard sewn or glued together.

You will have difficulty finding appropriate sized reeds for the welt around the disc.

I have hundreds of disks if you want one. You can find a good assortment of reeds from www.dickblick.com

The card board used to stiffen the top of a forage can be seen in the attached photo where the lining has pulled apart.

            Damon,
Can you recommend a good source for brown polished cotton for the interior?

Polished cotton is a rare source these days. One of the companies that finished the fabric just went belly up this Winter and the remaining cloth on the market has all been sold. There are some stirrings that another company will take over finishing the polished cotton, but no firm plans are in the works as of yet.
