Trim on artillery shells

Has anyone heard of artillery shell jackets without the trim on the back? By that I mean the trim that starts from the rear bolster and goes up the back of the jacket.
I've gome acros some by a sutler without the trim and he says they were copied from an original. THe jackses themselves are great except for the missing trim.

Do you mean U.S. Mounted Service jackets, artillery dresscoat, or a C.S. garment?

I do not believe artillery shells had trim as it might interfer with the loading and firing of the projectile? ;-)

I do not know the sutler, or the article of clothing in question, but..

"they were copied from an original." has become the Mantra of the Farb, Brand X, and Skinners' Row vendor for many years.

and "Copied from an original reproduciton" has been the modus operandi of many a Farb, Brand X, and Skinners' Row vendor, as well Indian and Pakistani maker.

1. If they are an AC Forum Approved Vendor, I am sure they have the documentation at hand and would dbe happy to discuss or share it.
2. If they are NOT an AC Forum Approved Vendor, I would question why you are looking there in the first and asking about the article here in the second?

As a collector as well as a living historian, I have NEVER seen an original artllery or cav. jacket without this trim.

Just BS from someone trying to sell you something incorrect.
