What was the accepted bugle call used during a flag raising? What was played as the flag was being lowered. I am planning a flag raising ceremony as part of an event, but it's not where we can fire the cannon or volleys. We'll have to blow a bugle, so I need to know what to have the bugler play.

    Thanks,

    R. J. Samp might be able to tell you if anything was played.

Not knowing any more than I do, "To the Color" or "Attention" would be possibilities. I do, however, have the text of a speech delivered by the Rev. William A. Hall, Chaplain of the Battalion of Washington Artillery, on the occasion "of the raising of the Confederate flag" at an encampment (I believe it was the "Model Farm") near Petersburg VA, on 9 February 1864. I found this in the 13 February 1864 Petersburg VA "Daily Express."
