  • CDV - Camp of 32nd Wisconsin and 25th Indiana

Being a Son of Hoosierdom, this cdv is too cool:

Alas, I'm afraid it's going to sell for a small fortune.

    Very truly yours, &c.,

Wow - never seen anything quite like this one, but as it is a Spring-Summer camp (April 10-Aug 4 according to Dyer's for the 32nd Wisconsin and April 24-Aug 10 for the 25th Indiana), all you need is a roof over your head. Neat that they planted a garden as well. Looks like these boys took apart a farm or collection of buildings for their shanty town. Interesting that he draws a difference between his regt and the Wisconsin boys on tents - wonder if that means the Hoosiers either did not have them or used them differently? The 25th Indiana arrived April 24th from Veteran furlough, easing back into the war a bit, though they sallied forth for several expeditions against the rebs from there. Looks like OK duty!

Thanks for sharing Mark. Afraid you may be right on the final bid for this one.
