  • RD knapsack

    Hello All,
While reading some posts on here about different confederate knapsacks I noticed one that was made by the Richmond depot and one was recovered at Sharpsburg. Does any one have any more more info on these knapsacks? Has any one ever tried to make another one? Any help would be appreciated.

        Re: RD knapsack

Aaron - you may be referring to the Clarksville Virginia Ordnance Harness Shops which made accouterments, including knapsacks, for the Richmond Depot. The so called "Kibbler" knapsack was likely made there (EoG pg 202). Ken Knopp wrote an excellent article on the Shops here: http://confederatesaddles.com/clarksville.html
