  • L&R Foot Officer's Sword

My Dad just finished construction of a case to hold the sword that belonged to my Great-Great Grandfather, Captain B.A. Fitzgerald, 23rd Tennessee Infantry Battalion. I thought you might enjoy some pics of it. The scabbard is leather and is laying in the bottom of the case.

            Scott,

It is a cool sword and cool case. Will the case mount to the front end of your Harley ?:)

That case alone is a work of craftsmanship! Beautiful. The fact that the sword has that history only enriches the whole piece!

Talk about the "holy grail" of Civil War relics!!! A great condition CS sword ID'd to a member of one's family. Thank you so much for sharing... and the case is superb, as well.

                      Re: L&R Foot Officer's Sword

Very nice, very nice. My compliments to your dad on the case.

We once had my great great grandfather's sword, a member of the 5th Tennessee Mounted Infantry. My dad used to play with it as a kid because it was kept in his house. His uncle took the sword and tried to sell it for drinking money. Fortunately his aunt bought the sword, thus keeping it in the family. Sadly though, my dad would have been given the sword by his mother and it would have been passed on to me.

Absolutely beautiful! Sword and especially the case. Your father and mine need to get together. My father has been making mantles and cases for our guns and swords for a long time. You have a wonderful display.

Thank you for sharing the photos. I find that the more I research the more I realize that no one really makes good quality reproductions of sabers. These is a beautiful example to faun over and wish someone would reproduce.
