    What happened to this guy's right hand? The shortened fingers can't be explained away by the camera angle.

    First Nebraska Volunteer Infantry was turned into cavalry 10/11/1863 and saw hard campaigning in the West against Cheyennes. First Lt. William S. Whittin was promoted capt. and A.A.G. 5/25/1863. What was he doing without rank insignia? When do you think this was taken?

      Brown and the AoA operated from Little Rock from about mid-September 1863 until the end of the War. My thoughts are that it was made in Brown's studio on Markham Street, but I'll need to compare it with a few other images to see what's similar and what ain't...
