    Re: Alabama Regiment arms issue

    Hi,

From what I read, the 19th Alabama was issued a mixture of rifles and muskets. The rifle that I know they were issued was the M1841 Mississippi Rifle with a sabre bayonet made by the Horstmann firm in Philadelphia before the war. Now up until January of 1862 the 19th drilled without muskets, because of the lack of weapons in the South. Hope this information helps.
