    Jason,

In the book " A Catalogue of Uniforms", from the Museum of the Confederacy, it states " Pleated fatigue coat: single breasted, 6 button front, brownish-gray wool and cotton cloth with no facings or piping, pleated front and skirts, brown cotton osnaburg lining in body, white wool yarn general's insignia on black wool backing affixed to turndown collar, no sleeve braid, Kentucky state buttons.

    Hope this helps.

      Folks,

Contemorary descriptions of SC pleated hunting frocks mentioned, almost exclusively, either "Salem" gray jeans or cassimere. Of course this from Fries Mills in NC.
