Whether you're a fan of the eastern or western theatre, you are gonna love Jeff Wert's volume, "The Sword of Lincoln; The Army of the Potomac". Been out for a bit but I only recently read it. Wert goes into just enough detail to "paint the picture". But he doesn't get bogged down in the small bits. His treatment of the Overland Campaign is a great read and is the first time I really understood those 39 days. I do wish he would of slowed down in his telling of the Petersburg Campaign but I'm probably a bit biased.
