I have had the good fortune to learn that some on my ancestors were from the Frederic Co. MD and Adams Co. PA area. How lucky can a reenactor be? In anycase, the home of Alexander Currens was burned July 3, 1863. The Confederate accounts of the event say that Federal shells fired at the house to dislodge sharp shooters caused the fire. Hoods Corps formed up near the house before the assult on little roundtop. There was also calvary action around the A. Currens farm on July 4th. The total value of the destroyed property was a little over $2,000 in 1868 dollars. The home was rebuilt and is now in use. The house it self is not part of the battlefield park as far as I know.
Does anyone have any family data on Alexander Currens, specifically his parents names?
Thank you for any help,
Jim Currens
