  • Edouard Lacouture and Others

    Hi Gentlemen,

Here I'm back from the other side of the Atlantic :) the french frog!

It's a pleausure to announce that french historians are still interested in Civil War. Here some new books recently published for the 150th anniversary....

    1)

can be found here or amazon: http://www.eyrolles.com/Loisirs/Livr...-9782917575147

The book, I don't have yet, deals with Edouard Lacouture, a french businessman in 1860 member honoris causa of the Chamber of Commerce of Virginia. He wanted to link the confederate states with Napoleon III and tried to convince him to take part in the conflict. In the way of creating partnership between Norfolk (VA) and Lorient.

    2)

by Farid Ameur. It's a some of pictures we know it for the most part. But still interesting to have a new point of view from a young PHD historian. Farid as I know, used to study in several american universities as Virginia one....and the great pleasure of beeing assistant

Are either of these printed in English? They look like fantastic reads to add to my bookshelf(ves) of overflowing, unread books!

        Hi my friends,

I'm sorry about....we have no translation into english! However, because one of them is a book with photo mostly known by Brady and others, I think you can easily get it and take a look. The first one about lacouture doesn't exist also in english. Harder than the second one in the way that it has been written in old french. Even me I'm not sure being able to understand it entirely ;)

        On Amazon:
