  • Antietam: Historical Flims Mini-Series ????

    To All,
I was surfing on youtube and came across a Historical Films Production "Antietam Mini-Series", trailer and behind-the-scenes. It looks kinda older, and was wondering if anyone had any info if it already came out (sorry if it did cause I live under a rock) or where to get it if it did ??
    Thanks

That actually looks very very good!...Therefore I'm apt to say it never happened. However, had it had long haired/mullet laden blondes with Boer War acoutrements and rubber bayonets I can almost guarantee it would've gotten a prime time slot on the 'History' channel...However, I sincerely hopee I'm wrong and that this does,in fact, exist...somewhere

As I recall, the goal was to make a multi-part series based on all the raw material shot for the NPS film; it was ideally slated for 2006 release, but never happened. The shorter version, as shown at the park, is available.

            Aron,
thats it. It was shot over three summers (97 98 99) on a famr in maryland not far from sharpsburg. some stuff (bloody lane) was shot on the actual battlefield. It brad Graham (the director) could ever get that thing out of the can and onto the screen it would blow your mind. The best of the best worked on it back in the day. I was lucky enough to spend 17 days on set in '99 and made some of the best friends I have in this hobby. steve acker started a thread on it some time agao. i have a bunch of pictures (but no scanner). This was before the AC. guys came from all over and slept out campaign style for 2 weeks. i got to shoot a scene with acker and jim schrueffer in antietam creek right by burnsides bridge. one of my favorite memories.

Brad Graham was continually reshooting scenes (as well as other productions) for this up to a few years ago here in Michigan. I believe he was simultaneously shooting films for the Wilderness and Corinth from about 2005-2009. Has anyone heard anything lately from Brad or the Film Company?

I think many of us get nostalgic about the past and like to think somehow that the world our mid-19th century ancestors lived in was free from many of the "sins" of our present world. Truth is, the more you study the past the more you realize that there's really nothing new under the sun. They struggled with many (most) of the same problems we do today.

Yup.....a lot of us worked on it and have fond memories. I still remember working at Claymont Estate.....what a beautful set of grounds.......and, Harpers Ferry in the Fall in greatcoats? Magical.

                  Hi All,
Anyone know where the 200 minute film is available, or even if it is? Man, alot of the film is cut out for the park service edition, which is only 60 min.

It was a fun time out there. I was there for a few days in '99. I was hoping it would have made it out by now, but I think it is just used as an NPS film now.

If I remember correctly the NPS film was completed before we finished filming.

                        Hi All,
I just recieved an e-mail from Brad Grahm stateing that the Antietam 200 minute film will be released in conjuction with a new book he has written about Antietam. He stated the following: The film is being produced in conjunction with a new book that I am
authoring on Antietam - both of which I hope to wrap up at the end of
this year. The film will likely come out first - early in the year -
                        the book a little later.
