  • Eppa Hutton Autobiography

I might of put this thread in the wrong forum (orginal in auth.) so i'm reposting it
I just sat here for the past 3 hours reading Gen Eppa Hutton's autobiography which covers the pre-war southern convention on secession, forming of the 8th Va., sort of AAR on 1st manassas, in detailed AAR on Ball's Bluff, Pennisula Campagn, Maryland campaign, Fredricksburg, Gettysburg, (his personal thoughts on Gburg) a few in first person AAR of petersburg, and Appomattox campaign, aslo imprisionment at Ft. Warren, and post war reconstruction actions. Good info I'd thought I'd share since only a few hundred copies were made till 1933.

I came across that a while ago too, very interesting read! I've personally examined his AARs from the Battle of Second Bull Run/Manassas to the brigade commander, James Kemper. His handwriting is by far some of the most legible I've ever come across. He is buried in the family plot at Hollywood Cemetery, here, in Richmond, Va.
