  • The "Saving Mississippi's Flags" Exhibit at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History

I just posted an article about the new exhibit at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, "Saving Mississippi's Flags" which has on display a number of beautifully restored Confederate battle flags. It can be found on my blog here: http://mississippiconfederates.wordp...it-in-jackson/

Thank you J. Thomas for the post. It is both exciting and humbling to view these flags. One of my many trips to the Old Statehouse included a personal viewing of the 11th Mississippi Cavalry Regiment's (Perrins) battleflag under which my G-G Grandfather, Martin F. Kelly, Pvt. Co. G (Hargraves) had served.

I consider Mississippi my second home as my Mother was born in Crystal Springs and raised in Port Gibson. My Aunt, Uncle and one of my cousins still reside just outside of Clinton. The balance of my relatives mostly still populate Copiah and Simpson counties. My late Great-uncle Ray Buckley owned Parkview Cleaners as well as Buckley's Cleaners just off 88 for many years.
