  • Battle Flag Of The 7th Florida Infantry?

I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, mods feel free to move if need be.

Does anyone know if a battle flag of the 7th Florida Infantry still exists? Or has anyone ever seen a picture of one? My ancestor served in the regiment for the entire war and I'd like to replicate the flag. I've seen pictures of the one for the 6th and 8th but not the 7th. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Calen-

It's possible some soldier's family might have it but I think it more likely that it is sitting in a museum somewhere either mislabeled or simply unknown. Several Confederate flags in the Iowa battle flag collection are unknown as an example. They were donated with very vague veteran notes that only the original owner knew what they meant. Some of the donation cards read "rebel flag captured by our regiment". No mention of where, when or who to place the flag to the unit or circumstances it was lost...very frustrating.

I am sure you have seen the link I am attaching but if you look at item (ACC. Number 87.1.15), number 14 on the list for all we know this could be the flag of the 7th Florida Infantry. Did they lose their flag or a flag during the war?

It's a lot of research but if you check into all the battles the 7th was at and what enemy regiments they were engaged with you maybe able to find out where they lost their flag..if they did.
