With Halloween upon us once again, I have found a few stories that are of relevance to the period, penned by Ambrose Bierce, of course!
First is Three and One are One. Tragic.
Second is A Baffled Ambuscade. Just the sort of things that play tricks on the mind.
Third is A Tough Tussle. Strange indeed.
Last, and certainly one of my favorites, is The Other Lodgers. If you haven't read this it is short enough to share around a campfire with fellow enthusiasts.
It is the season of Haints and such, to paraphrase my fellow North Carolinians to the west. Great reading to put one in the mood and perpetuate the literature of one of the great writers, and later personalities, of the Civil War.
