  • Looking For Lowry's 22nd Virginia Infantry History

    Good Morning,

In helping Paul Boulden get things together for the adjunct to the 150th New Market reenactment, I am trying to get some research done for the 22nd Virginia Infantry (regiment, not battalion), particularly their activities in 1864. The book, by Thomas Lowry (Virginia Regimental Series) only had 1000 copies produced, and used it goes for at least $125. With that said, I am trying to find out if any AC members here have a copy of the book that they would either A. be willing to loan me (I'll pay shipping both ways) or B. scan/email the pages for 1864. Thank you.

    Respectfully,

    'afternoon sir,

While I don't have Lowry's book on the 22nd VA, I do have his book on the 5th VA. Unless the one on the 22nd is more detailed, you're not going to get much out of it. I actually found more regarding the 5th in another source (which unfortunately doesn't apply to the 22nd - Four Years in the Stonewall Brigade).

The most useful item in Lowry's book is the highly detailed information on the Reg't members.

    Best of luck!

I believe that my account is too new for private messages to work, so please feel free to e-mail me at thomas.warshaw@gmail.com if you can help. Thank you.

      Tommy,

I own Lowry's book on the 22nd Virginia Infantry. I can either mail you a hard copy or email the pages for 1864 in PDF file. Just let me know what method you'd prefer.

Thank you, Calum. Unfortunately, I've been able to find very few sources of info at all on the 22nd. Even if the book is scant, it has to be better (hopefully) than what I've been able to find so far.
