  • Sources of Information

I am a member of the 61st New York and am interested in finding primary source documents in regards to this unit...especially Quartermaster Records. I have done the ol' google search thing and have exhausted all those resources. I know of the archives in D.C. and will be hopefully making a trip in that direction. I have alos consulted the Official Records. My question is, besides these avenues of researching a particular unit, are there other suggestions in locating information on a particular regiment?
    Thanks for your help,
    Matt Kraybill

Let's not forget the New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center:

Looks like there's a good deal of original photographs and newspaper clippings.

You might also want to contact the New York Historical Society and even the New York (city) public library.
