  • Question for Neill Rose & other Carolinians

I’m looking for information on the whereabouts of the manuscripts and photographs from the family of the Fayetteville Arsenal Commander, F.L. Childs. I have traced it as far as Sam Ragan but the trail goes cold just prior to his death. He initially offered the collection to several Moore or Cumberland County NC institutions.

I have not had any luck with NCDoA&H, DocSouth, Duke, Joyner at ECU, Randal at UNC-W, the Crane or Johnson collections at CCPL or Davis Library at MU in Fayetteville.

Is it hiding in plain sight and I just don’t see it or does it not exist?

    Garrison,

Try the South Caroliniana Library in Columbia. PS I have a uniformed picture of "Lyn" Child's direct from the family (Dick Anderson's relations too) FYI.
