  • Observers to the civil war from the german cultural region

I have been doing some research on military observers from the german cultural region and have thus far pretty much turned up extensive information only on the prussian observers. Does anyone know if there were any Austrian or Bavarian observers and where I would find information on them? I am especially interested in Austrian observers, as I am trying to pinpoint any impact on austro-prussian war (1866) resulting from observation of our war, I know the prussians took home a few lessons. Thanks for any help.

    John,
I do know that the Austrian observer with the ANV at Gettysburg was a Captain named Ross. I don't have any information there, but I hope that can help.

This is mostly based on Prussian experiences, but is nevertheless a good resource. The bibliography should also prove useful as well.
