Re: Fort Harker in Stevenson, Alabama
I'm betting you want the Fort Harker that is in your own backyard, and not the one in Kansas.
First--contact your local historical society--somebody there has a copy of the application made to place the Fort on the National Historic Register. This will give you a pretty good run down of the historical significance of the place, including names of the major players at the time. I bet the geneological section of the Stevenson library has a small locally published booket as well.
Then, look to the OR's for detailed accounts of actions in the area.Terre Hood Biederman
Yassir, I used to be Mrs. Lawson. I still run period dyepots, knit stuff, and cause trouble.

There was a little about it in the recent Blue and Gray issue that dealt with the first part of the Chickamauga Campaign, Fall 2006. Also you might want to contact Jim Ogden at Chickamauga about it.
