  • Masonic question

I am not a member of any order, but have a question regarding recent public perception from a historical perspective, specifically late 1880's. I'm sure if I ask it here it will closed by the new "authority figures". Would you Mason's allow me to join your social group long enough to ask for your thoughts? I am not aware of knowing any other brothers outside of this hobby to ask.
    Thanks

    Patrick,

While you won't be able to join the private forum, feel free to PM me, Pat Craddock, Brian Hicks, Art Milbert, Paul Calloway, Justin Runyon, Jason Adams or Kiev Thomason. And there are plenty of other Masons that would be willing to answer you as well. It seems that this is just better left to the PM function on the AC.

      Re: Masonic question

      Patrick,

There are several excellent books regarding Freemasonry. I would suggest "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Freemasonry" and "Freemasons for Dummies." I think what you are looking for would be found in both of these books.

They both cover the Craft's history thru the ages and public perceptions/myths. Perhaps after reading one or both of these books, you might be so inclined to ask a Freemason 2B a Freemason.

        Re: Masonic question

Thanks Michael, I sent a PM to Matt, but don't know how to attached multiple adresses there. I will presume that "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Freemasonry" and "Freemasons for Dummies." were simply suggested titles, and not a reference to my level of mental capacity.

That might in fact be some research I am interested in doing.

          Re: Masonic question

Patrick, the Complete Idiots Guide is authored by a well known and very competant Masonic Historian and Author. I have met him personally and the book is certainly worth a non-mason picking up as a handy one volume guide to the craft.

To echo Woodburn, Id be happy to help out with questions you may have.

If I may, Mr. Runyon, thank you for the references. I have often been curious about some Masonic matters, but haven't always asked for fear of stepping into the territory of what can't be discussed with a non-Mason.
