    Re: 19th Century Masonic Tombstones

Attached is an image of the grave of George E. DuCharme. Served in the 74th Illinois Infantry and interred in the City Cemetary, Agency, IA. I find it interesting that Mr. DuCharme has two stones. In the foreground is his Masonic/privately purchased stone. Just over the left shoulder of the stone is his military headstone.

My second favorite passtime, wandering thru graveyards, taking pictures of headstones. The wife and I are members of another site just for this purpose. I am currently building a central Texas Confederate virtual cemetery. Glad to see we are not alone in our hobby.

We have several here in Lincoln County, Ky (named for Benjamin not Abraham Lincoln). I will try to post some pics.

I've attached photos of a couple Masonic stones that I photographed in the Nashville City Cemetery.

Past Grand Master Wilkins Tannehill (d. 1858) and Rev. Moses B. Johnston

                    Re: 19th Century Masonic Tombstones

While waiting to pick up some drawing at a printer in Gallatin, TN yesterday I decided to take a quick walk through the old city cemetery. Here are a couple I found - worth sharing.

Ok, the first is one that I think is pretty cool, but I'd like everyone's opinion whether they think it is a Mason - or not.

The second was just kinda cool...so I add it here for your viewing pleasure.

                    Enjoy!

I thought that I had read where the carpemters guild used the S&C as well, but arranged in a different way.

                        Good evening from Australia
I'm new to the forum, retired from the Australian Army a couple of years ago, have an abiding interest in the Civil War and now have the time to get more involved with reenacting...a "damn rebel" of course.

I was interested to read that some of you may be brothers, and I send fraternal greetings to you, my lodge here is Clifton Masonic Lodge Number 111, in the State of Queensland here in Australia.
I'm also involved with the Royal Arch and about to accept an invitation into the Knights Templars.

All the best to you all.
