    Here is a new George F. Root website with some scores, lyrics, electronic files, etc. Looks like it is expanding.
    (At least this website is new to me. Please forgive me if everyone has already seen this before. )

    George Frederick Root (August 30, 1820 – August 6, 1895) George Frederick Root was an influential songwriter, born in August 1820, in Sheffield, Massachusetts. His work mainly focused on issues regarding the American Civil War. As a young boy, Root trained on piano under the guidance of George J.     Thank you for that link. It is very informative. Things sure have changed since I first started researching period music in the early 1970's, when I would have to periodically make trips into NYC to visit the Lincoln Center Library, and there wasn't one one hundredth the valuable information that is so easy to get on the internet nowadays. I continue to learn things every day.
