Does anyone else want to choke this guy for having an orginal drum sitting in the snow?

I did not put the drum in the snow or take the photos. It's from ebay. If you have $5000 you can bid on it!

Two eagle drums on ebay in the same week. This one's a Soistmann. Looks like neither of them has a snare strainer.

                Will,

Being a new musician, and a fifer at that... whats a snare strainer? Is that what you tighten or losen the snare with? Just my educated guess.

                Thanks,

You guessed right. Elias Howe says in his Drum and Fife Instructor that the regulation drums did not come with "snare fasteners." He knew quite well being the owner of the Boston Drum Manufactory during the war. But makers did not always follow the "regulations."

Will, I know it wasn't you who took these photos. I was referring to the owner of the drum who thought snow wouldn't affect 150 yr old wood!
