Bonnie Blue Flag

Hello all,

I've always wondered this but have never gotten an answer. In the song "Bonnie Blue Flag" it says that Alabama joined South Carolina before Mississippi. MS seceded on Jan 9 while AL seceded on Jan 11. Why does the song list Alabama as next after South Carolina? Is this just because these dates were unclear when the lyrics were composed?

I am sure it was because Alabama rhymes better with Carolina.
