  • Thinking about a kit banjo?

Go here : http://bell.20m.com/banjokits.html I own a custom Stichter that Terry made for me this summer. I am very happy with it. Mine is solid, looks good and plays well. If his kits are anything like the completed banjos he sells, a kit for $350 is a steal. His tackhead kit is only $275! Not sure how long he can afford to do this.

So, if you're put off by the price of completed minstrel banjos and if you have a modicum of woodworking experience, you can have decent banjo for very little money and very little labor.

I know it's an old thread but I've just ordered a tackhead kit from Bell and Sons. Terry Bell has been a pleasure to correspond with. He is still makin these kits up! I'll post photos when I've made mine up in another few months after it's made up for me, snet anf put together.
