    Re: Hell on the Wabash

I've got about a hundred and ten fife and drum manuals from the 1700's to the 1920's, and B&E and the 1905 and 1928 American Veteran Fifer are the only places it appears. It does also appear in "Ryan's Mammoth Collection of 1050 Reels and Jigs" published by Elias Howe in 1883 and Bayard in his book "Dance to the Fiddle, March to the Fife" collected many versions of the tune from old WV, MD, PA and VA fifers and fiddlers under various "Hell" names, including Hell on the Potomac and Hell on the Rappahannock.
