    Common period song, or was it another "homefront hit"? Also, the melody itself sounds alot like it might have originally been a traditional Irish folksong, so I was wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on alternate more traditional lyrics to the same melody (would be more authentic).

    For those of you unfamiliar with the song:


    Would love to hear some input on this one, as I'm a little baffled.
