This is a recent acquisition of mine. Alas, it carries no backmark or revenue stamp and no other provenance other than it came out of Houston, Texas. However, the image is still very nice. It's also rather unusual in its depiction of a flutina on the table next to the fiddler who, for his part, seems rather well-dressed and sports a hefty (probably gold) watch chain. The designs of the floor carpet and the tablecloth are also noteworthy.
The dating is definitely "Civil War era," so I'm guessing c.1863.
Enjoy,
Mark Jaeger
