A 22" skin can be tucked to fit a 16" drum. The "thin" heads are sufficiently thick. I wouldn't recommend the "medium" or "thick" sizes. The goatskin works also. I use goatskins for snare heads and calfskin for batter.

The 3.5 meter roll of 2mm gut is enough for 6 snares on a 16" drum.

This catgut is also closer to that used on 19th century drums than most drum makers use today. It is brown, whereas modern gut is yellow.

A crude translation from the section describing the difference between modern and old catgut:

"It is always natural, but it is not smoked as it was before. The appearance is also different: the former was brown color, that today is "lineage" yellow and white."
