    Dave -

Thanks. Leave it to an Artillerist to find great reading material. Great pdf downloads of period sheet music.

Three of interest to me anyway:

Excellent copy of 'Coal Black Rose' (1829) which many consider the prototype of all Minstrel Songs - the type of popular song that would become wildly popular by the time of the CW. It's likely soldiers North and South heard it hummed at home growing up. Notably this includes a guitar score.

'General Grants Grand March' (1862) is an indication how popular, with some North at least, General Grant was already in the first half of the CW. The cover has an excellent large engraving of the man.

'Wearing Of The Grey' (1865), sung to the tune of 'Wearing Of The Green' is a good expression of the 'sour grapes' felt by those who fought hard for Secession but were basically cheated out of winning - first inklings of the 'Lost Cause' legend that was about to be constructed.
