  • Civil War era medicine show

Here's a nice clip from Dr. Murdoch's medicine show taken from their 2007 appearance at Historic Sandusky in Lynchburg, Virginia.

This troupe puts on a great show, they are all long time veterans of the Colonial Williamsburg theatrical department.

The brave respect the brave. The brave
Respect the dead; but you -- you draw
That ancient blade, the ass's jaw,
    And shake it o'er a hero's grave.

I second this... Carl Hudson and Company do a great job. I saw this very same tune performed at the Mariners Museum only a couple of weeks ago. I highly recommend checking out theie show if you ever get a chance.

Until then, pick up one of his CD's.

"I Come From Old Virginny!" is a great collection of early Virginia Banjo music from 1790-1860.
