Sir and Ma'am, here is a interesting photo of soldiers at a magazine entrance in Fort Brady, Va. 1864. http://civilwarphotos.net (Click "Other Locations", image # 512). The two soldiers in foreground look to be wearing as issued sack coats with full pockets and the man at entry on right has a five button coat with an outside breast pocket. There is a gunner's haversack that looks to be full of small arms ammunition atop a sack of perhaps more ammunition on the barrel. This photo,LC-DIG-cwpb-02207, and two others, LC-DIG-cwpb-02195 and LC-DIG-cwpb-02197 were taken in1864. The latter two point out that Co. C 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery manned a battery at Fort Brady in 1864. To view other two photos use http://lcweb2.loc.gov/pp/cwpquery.html (In "other ways to search": "search only": click "Number." In the search box use these ID'S). The LOC summary indicates photographs from the main eastern theater of war, the Army of the James, June 1864- April 1865. My two cents, hope you enjoy.
