I ran across my family album where I found old photos of my families visit to the 100th Anniversary Reenactment of Manassas in 1960. I was fortunate for my father to be stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia where we experienced the event and visited many other Virginia battlefields. The rest is history 33 years later I was in the hobby slow coming.

Hallo!
Thanks for sharing!
(But wouldn't it have been the 99th of Manassas in 1960? ;) :) )

Michael,
Those are awesome! I hope my three sons look back photos their youthful experiences and thank their father for moments. I know that you surely do.
Happy New Year!Greg S Barnett

Re: 100th Manassas Reenactment Photos
Thanks for posting these great photos! Back home (I'm at school now...) I actually have some old newspapers that covered this reenactment. Unfortunately only the first section of the newspaper remains, so most of the story was lost.Stephen Feryus

the link to the photos doesn't seem to be working anymore. Is there any other way to view the pictures?James Cannon

Re: 100th Manassas Reenactment Photos
Somehow or another, a few years ago I acquired several B&W photos, sized approx. 8 X 10, which I believe were of this very reenactment.
One thing that immediately struck me (and which Jaime already pointed out) was the virtual lack of large-bellied soldiers. That and the fact that the rebs were a mighty colorful lot, literally. You could easily tell- even from the B&Ws- the prevailing thought for a CS impression was that kepi/collar/cuff/stripes color was a foremost determining factor of branch of service! I remember thinking how much it reminded me of some of the more "elegant" N-SSA uniforms I'd seen in the 70s-80s.
Definitely would be interested in seeing these you had, for comparison, if you can get the link to work again. Thanks.Last edited by Gallinipper; 07-09-2009, 10:59 PM.Rich Croxton
