  • New York Historical Society stereoviews

I was looking online for the source of those great stereoviews Brian White posted when I stumbled across an archive of digitized images (mainly stereoviews) from the New York Historical Society. There are quite a few there I've never seen before. I searched this forum and I didn't find any previous discussion on them here either. Unfortunately, the resolution isn't always great. Here are a few I found intriguing:

    "Improvised Dinner Table:"

"Men Dining on Box" (5th New York at Fortress Monroe):

    "News from Home:"

"The Way They Cook Dinner in Camp:"

Here's the link to the site:

Uh, oh -- what's that thingy hanging up on the left side of the photo? If it goes over the fire, everybody's gonna want to have one!

      Carry on.
