Re: Two 4th Texas images
Found a reference to the Co. E. 4th Texas "Lone Star Guards" It is taken from "Hood's Texas Brigade: Lee's Grenadier Guard" by Harold B. Simpson
"The "Lone Star Guard" of McLennan County (Company E, Fourth Texas Infantry) probably set the pace for sartorial excellence in the Brigade. No doubt the fact that their commander, Ed Ryan, was proprietor of one of the leading mercantile stores in Waco helped to account for the quality of their uniforms. They were made of imported grey cloth, individually tailored and cut by R.J. Talley and sewed together by the Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist Church. The uniforms were trimmed in blue, and sported brass buttons with the raised letters, "LSG." The buttons had been procured by the merchant Ryan on a trip to New York just prior to the hostilities"
